It has been a difficult and challenging learning curve. It has taken some 10 or more days to fix most of what was broken and we hope that the solution is now resolved. However, if you do come across any broken links, please feel free to leave a comment or email us at the address below.

Alongside the change of server, we have also had a theme change. We sought to make the theme more up-to-date and with improved features and navigation. We think we have done this but be sure to comment with your opinions below.

NokiaDNA is our Nokia orientated website related to all things Nokia, which has been running for several years. When NokiaDNA began its life, Nokia was number one in the world of smartphones, and at the pinnacle of technology and there was little room for anyone else. However, technology has ballooned and it is no longer possible for any one company to rule the roost on their own.

The likes of Google have brought us the Android operating system and Apple has introduced us to iOS. The world has changed and today Samsung reigns supreme as the number one phone manufacturer in terms of sales of smartphones, closely followed by Apple. In this ever-changing world we do not know what tomorrow may hold, and with Nokia in collaboration with Microsoft they have presented us with the new windows phone, and this looks likely to be a new era with a fourth ecosystem emerging.

Our sister site covers mobile phone technology outside of the Nokia phone arena and therefore, in light of the changes in the mobile technological world and with our future in mind, we have decided to take NokiaDNA and our sister site to the next level by merging the two websites together which will be known collectively as Project-DNA.

I understand some of your are dedicated Nokia people and want to read only Nokia news but we hope that you will be interested to stay and view the bigger picture. However, NokiaDNA warranted a change of name to reflect the new-found ethos of the website. [The history that is behind NokiaDNA will not be lost and the web address will continue to live on as will all the articles and stories].

Our aim is to bring you our thoughts and opinions on all mobile technology and we think it will make the website more interesting for all our readers to be able to view topics on a variety of subjects and platforms in one cohesive ecosystem.

Our new website will be known as Project-DNA and the web address is http://project-dna.org

We look forward to your continued readership and we hope you enjoy our new site.

A few tweaks are still ongoing as prepare our new logo and we marry-up our social networks and galleries and we hope you will bear with us throughout the transition. Please remember to report any errors that you may find.

Nokia today announced the Nokia Lumia 510. The Lumia 510 joins the line-up of Nokia windows phone.

The Lumia 510 arrives with the follows features:

4-inch screen display

5.0 megapixel camera

256MB RAM

1300 mAH battery

Snapdragon Processor

Windows Phone 7.5 Mango operating system (upgradeable to Windows Phone 7.8)

The Nokia Lumia 510 supercedes that of the Nokia Lumia 610. Although the specs are similar, the increase in screen size frm 3.7-inches to 4-inches may see Nokia rewarded with increased sales.

However, the problem of a platform that is one step behind the newest of the Lumia Windows phone range persists.

This same problem arose with the Nokia Lumia 900 which is still being rolled out in some countries despite the fact that it will not be receiving the newest operating system for Windows Phone 8. However, the Lumia 900 does arrive with one of the brightest and biggest displays in the windows phone 7.5 portfolio and with the newly released devices of the Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820, it is likely to be offered at a reasonable price.

As a child you will have heard very many Bedtime Stories, some of those are very gentle, sweet and entertaining and some may have been that little bit scary but, every Bedtime Story has a happy ending.

The ‘Story of Nokia MeeGo’ is on-going and time will tell whether there will be a happy ending for MeeGo owners.

The main devices that I recall are the Nokia N900, the developers device Nokia N950 and latterly the Nokia N9.

However, before we head to the finish line, let us start at the beginning.

Once Upon A Time…

In 2005, a very small group of people with limited resources at Nokia developed a Linux based Maemo operating system

The team was renamed as Maemo in 2007, and as a consequence of Nokia’s and Intel’s partnership in 2010, it was renamed as MeeGo…

First device was the N770 device. It was released in 2005, following by the N800 and N810.

The Maemo team started to think about a smartphone concept aimed to the masses. Originally the plan was to just add phone capabilities to the N810, but it eventually changed to a completely new device under the codename ‘Rover’ or as we know it – the N900…
